- Short Description:
- One step more involved than I’m Here if You Need Me is to proactively be on the lookout for customers, investors, employees, and partners for portfolio companies and provide those introductions. This work is still done by GPs in between all their other work so is not a full-time job.
- Benefits:
- Provides for more interaction with the CEO/founder that allows for relationship building which may be useful later in the company lifecycle and for referrals of other deals.
- Sends the message to portfolio company management teams that you are thinking about them and care
- A good introduction can add value on both sides and can also help the GP with building networks for sourcing, help with diligence, and or benefit two portfolio companies.
- Trade-offs:
- Focuses incremental more time on a portfolio rather than the rest of GP responsibilities
- If the intros are not well selected, not well executed, or too frequent, they might be misinterpreted by CEO/founders as the GP not trusting their execution.
